Stop the Stigma

So, this blog post is one that is slightly more serious than usual. Last week I watched Jack Harries' most recent video, and it inspired me to write this blog post. I've linked the video for you guys to watch if you like, but overall it was about ending the negative stigma attached to mental illness.

For as long as I can remember, I've suffered from anxiety. I experience these anxious feelings everyday, but during stressful periods of my life they are a lot worse. It's hard to face the world when you have an ongoing battle between how you want to feel and how you really feel. But it is even harder when people are constantly judging you and making assumptions about your life.

I agree with Jack Harries when he says that we must speak out. People shouldn't be ashamed of themselves. Having a mental illness such as anxiety, depression or eating disorder shouldn't determine who you are, it's only a small part of you. So, it's time we speak  out about mental health, and no longer be ashamed.

If you suffer from a mental illness and need some help and advice, then here are a few helpful links. Don't suffer in silence. You are loved<3.

Motivational Monday

Mondays are hard for everyone. I know for a fact that I lack inspiration and end up wishing my week away so I can spend another weekend watching hours of Netflix. So, in a bid to motivate mainly myself (and maybe a few others), here are some of my favourite motivational and inspirational quotes!

"It's not life if it's not worth fighting for." - Charles Trippy.

"Happiness is a choice." - Shay Carl.

"You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it." - Robin Sharma

"Be the change you want to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi.

"You can't knock on opportunity's door and not be ready." - Bruno Mars.

"The time is always right to do what is right." - Martin Luther King.

Photo credit goes to me, taken on Blackpool pier..believe it or not.

These are so cliche, but even if it isn't Monday where you are, sometimes just one positive thought can turn a bad day into a better one.

Adios amigos x

Music Faves

In my opinion, a good life needs a good soundtrack. Music is the key to a happier life, and can brighten the most grey days. If you're feeling happy, there's a song for it. If you're feeling sad, there's a song for that too. Basically, what I'm trying to say is what would our lives be without music? And without further ado, here's the soundtrack to my life.

Mayday Parade used to be my guilty pleasure, but now I have no shame about expressing my love for them. I dare you to listen to Terrible Things and not be an emotional wreck afterwards. Plus, Jake Bundrick (far left) is mighty fine to look at..
Okay, so these guys are definitely my guilty pleasure. But you can't go far wrong with a bit of Scouting For Girls. Am I right or am I right???
We The Kings are a band that I think do not get enough credit for their music. They aren't very popular over here in the UK, but I looooove them. This is the cover of their album Somewhere Somehow, and recently they released an acoustic album called Stripped. I find it fascinating how they can perform upbeat songs like Queen Of Hearts and I Feel Alive, then ones that are sure to give you goosebumps i.e. Stone Walls and Just Keep Breathing.
Elvis Freaking Presley. What a guy. It breaks my heart a little bit that I wasn't around to see him perform live.
George Ezra looks nothing like how he might sound, but holy mother of God his voice is incredible, I want to marry him kind of, oops. Anyway, his album Wanted On Voyage is really worth listening to!
Bruno Mars. The first musician I ever fell in love with. I've been a dedicated fan since he first came about with Nothin' On You and Billionaire in 2010, and now I'm watching my fav slay the world tbh. I love him a hell of a lot. (And he's even more incredible live!)

PVRIS are the most recent favourite of mine. I just love the way they sound, and their album White Noise is one you just want to jam along to!

And that, everyone, is my list of music favourites. Thank you for taking the time to read, and I'll see y'all later (#NotACowboy).

Room Tour 2015

My room is a pretty small space, so it's easy to achieve a cosy vibe. I wouldn't particularly say that the decor in my room reflects my personality much, but it definitely is a place where I enjoy spending time doing homework, chilling and mainly sleeping. The quality of these photos aren't very good as they were taken on my iPhone 5C, but anyway, here's my room..well parts of it haha!

I love this little hanger, it fits the "shabby chic" feel of my room, and is obviously useful for hanging bits and bobs!

My dresser (that is actually tidy for once!) and a few candles to make it cosy..

I have a guitar...that I don't know how to play oops!
Dancin' to the jailhouse clock ;)

Cutest little owl!
My favourite place in the whole world...
Fairy lights and candles, two of my favourite things.

This is probably my favourite part of my room. It's a wall decal of a Marilyn Monroe quote that helps lift my mood when I'm feeling down. Above it, I have a string of my favourite polaroid photos of family and friends, hung up with the cutest miniature pink pegs!

Hello 2015...

As usual, in the blink of an eye, 2014 is over and we're at the very beginning of 2015, where people vow to carry out the resolutions they make. I've never been one for making and sticking to New Years resolutions, but this year I'm determined. So, in this very first blog post of mine, I present to you my 2015 goals.

Write a blog..

In an attempt to do something productive with my somewhat disorganised thoughts and creativity, I have created this blog. My aim is to post at least once a week, and content will include reviews, fashion, and general rants/thoughts/life advice. Hopefully some of you will stick by me and I don't bore you too much.

Exercise more..

I've heard that light exercise is the key to a clearer and happier mind. For now, I might just join my gran at her Zumba class, but hopefully when the better weather comes in I will be out jogging one or two times a week (maybe a tad ambitious???).

Learn to play guitar..

This is the least likely of them all, as I'm not the most musical person ever. However, I'm willing to give it a bash, and that's all that matters isn't it?

I'd love to know some of your New Years Resolutions!
